Annual cost saving projection for a UK based consulting firm
£1.2m in annual cost savings projected, from supporting 32 returning parents through 1:1 and group coaching support.
The background
A UK based consulting firm wanted to assess working parents experience after they returned from leave. People surveys pointed to a lack of quality conversations, flexibility and individual support. Leadership knew there was a problem; and engaged that spark.
The brief
After engagement, the company asked that spark to design and deliver a parental returner coaching programme coupled with an annual projection of cost savings should the parental coaching programme be implemented. They also requested monthly themes shared between the HR Leadership Team (HRLT) and Exco so that they could use to shape their people plans.
What we did
We built a pilot combining 1:1 coaching with quarterly group sessions, signed off by the HRLT and Exco. Over the course of the pilot, we coached a total of 32 individuals through 1:1 and/or group sessions. Every participant completed an evaluation after their coaching, measuring the impact on their role.
The results
97% of participants said the coaching helped them feel more supported and valued
83% said they were thinking more long-term about their role
All 32 individuals coached were retained - a projected equivalent to c.£1.2m in annual savings on recruitment, minimised ‘dead time’ and onboarding costs
Monthly theme summaries fed directly into the company’s HRLT, giving leadership a clear view of recommendations to act upon.
